Suggestions for Accommodation

1. Calvary Chapel Eastside has a Fragrance Free Zone next to the main auditorium on Sunday mornings. This room has a T.V. monitor where chemically sensitive people can view the service in a “fragrance free” environment.

2. CCE pastors gladly visit in person or by telephone those individuals too ill to attend the Fragrance Free Zone worship services.

3. CCE invites people with MCS to participate in their outdoor picnics and baptisms. They are willing to accommodate any special requests such as baptisms by sprinkling if people are unable to be submerged due to their health condition.

4. CCE attempts to make “fragrance free” accommodations for events when they know people who are chemically sensitive hope to participate.  Examples of events that have been made “fragrance free” are home fellowship groups, ladies’ Bible studies, all-church retreats, ladies’ retreats, and concerts.

5. During the holiday season, CCE sends Christmas carolers to the homes of people who are chemically sensitive that are unable to attend church regularly.

6. CCE primarily cleans their mid-week facility with products such as baking soda and vinegar.

7. At an all-church retreat in 2004, the building where the meetings were being held was moldy. Because of this, CCE set up a special outdoor tent/canopy for the chemically sensitive to sit under so they could hear the meetings through an open window without becoming ill from the mold.

8. Calvary Chapel Eastside hosts an Internet prayer and encouragement group for those who are unable to attend church due to their disability.

9. Various Calvary Chapel churches have put announcements in their weekly bulletins asking people to refrain from wearing fragrances to their church functions. Some have also put such announcements at their Web site.

10. If you know someone who is homebound due to illness and unable to attend any church functions, find out what their needs are. Would they like to be hooked up with a weekly or monthly prayer partner? Do they need someone to help them clean or do errands on occasion?
