The Ink is Not Dry

by Jeff Geise

On March 7th, 2004, my pastor asked me to speak at our church on some of the lessons that I’ve been learning over this last year and a half since I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I preached on how I’ve been learning to:

a. Trust in God’s Purpose for my life (I trust in His plan).

b. Trust His Presence in my life (He has always been with me in the storm).

c. Trust His Provision (answered prayer) for each page of this story He is writing called my life.

It was a difficult message to share, but I was honored to talk about God’s hand in my life. He has shown Himself faithful to me at every corner. He hasn’t always answered every prayer quite like I asked, but He has answered none the less. I shared it this way in my sermon:

I asked for healing…

o He gave me strength to endure suffering.

I asked for no pain…

o He gave me joy in the midst of pain.

I asked for no Chemo…

o He gave me the honor to minister to others in the chemotherapy treatment room.

I asked for assurance I’ll be healed…

o He’s given me assurance He’ll always hold my hand.

I asked for guarantees my kids will have a dad as they grow older and my wife will have a husband in her old age…

o He’s given me peace that Jesus is Cindy’s ultimate bridegroom and my children will always have a heavenly Father that will take care of them.

I asked for a greater sense of His presence in my life…

o He’s given me a much greater sense of His presence in my life.

Right now I am basking in the sense that God has given me just a taste of healing and grace. The doc says that the Leukemia is not in remission but he continues to use the word “stable” to describe where I am at right now. I’ll take that for this page of the story. I’m still praying BIG miracle healing while I live in the day to day wonder of His incredible grace and mercy!

The ink is not dry on this man’s story yet, and it’s not dry on yours either!!

For the Saints and for the Lamb,
